How to integrate Telegram?

In this article, you will learn about the Telegram integration process to automate conversations with a bot and connect multiple customer service agents.

Telegram is a cloud-based, cross-platform, globally accessible instant messaging service. It offers end-to-end encrypted chats and optional video calling, VoIP, and file sharing. It is currently available for iOS and Android mobile devices and also for desktop devices in Windows and Mac environments.

How to perform the integration?

The integration of Telegram with Botmaker is native and you can easily perform it through the tutorial, which is available from https://go.botmaker.com/#/integrations/channels/telegram or from Menu>Channels and Integrations>Channels, selecting Telegram as an option.

Integrate your Telegram account to perform the following actions:

  • Automate conversations with a chatbot
  • Send news to your customers
  • Make sales through the app
  • Connect multiple agents to provide customer service

Note: Remember that to perform the integration you need a Telegram account associated with a pone number.

You Will see the following screen. Click +Connect to start the channel connection.

Step 1: Talk to BotFather

Note: Remember that once you have created your Telegram account, you can connect to BotFather here https://t.me/botfather.You can talk to him either from the mobile app or from the desktop app (https://desktop.telegram.org/) to start the connection.

In the list of commands shown below, select /newbot.

Step 2: Create your bot

BotFather will guide you to create your bot. You will need to do the following:

  • Choose a name under which the bot will be displayed in the contact list.
  • Choose a username under which your customers will find you. This name must end in ‘bot’, for example, TetrisBot or tetris_bot.

Step 3: Integrate with Botmaker

Finally, integrate your Telegram bot with Botmaker by copying the token in the last step of the tutorial and clicking Connect, as shown below:

Done! You have successfully completed the integration of Telegram into the Botmaker platform.
