How to create customized responses?

In this page, you will find concepts and information to create customized responses.
Estimated Reading Time: 04 minutes

Each intent includes a trigger and a response. The structure of a response can be a text answer, a sequence, or an action of structured responses. It can also be a full blow decision tree.

When the intent is on and is triggered by the conversation with the user, the bot will execute everything defined in the “response” tab. It will do it in the sequence the contents are displayed.

To find out the correct formats for each conversation element on the different platforms supported by Botmaker, visit the article “Technical restrictions on responses.”

After the creation of the response, you should save and publish the intent you have created.

The response elements can be:

Text Buttons Carousel Media Actions Articles

The video below shows how to add text, buttons, media, and actions.

Timing of responses

You can configure the seconds of wait time between the responses of your bot. This functionality is very useful especially when sending several responses together, so you can have a small window of time between one message and the next, allowing the end user to read everything at a comfortable pace.

Setting it up is easy! You can apply it to specific responses or apply it to all your bot’s responses.

To configure the timing in specific responses, follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to Menu > Intents and select the intent that contains the response you want to configure.

Step 2: In the response, you will see the following option.

Step 3: Choose the amount of time you want, click on save and you’re done!

If you want to configure this functionality for all of the responses of your bot, go to Menu > Settings > Bot

You will find this option in there:

Choose the amount of seconds that you want and done! Now all of your bot’s responses will have that timing set.
