On this page, you will find information explaining the default WhatsApp messages limits.
Estimated Reading Time: 03 minutes

Message limits determine how many users your company can send messages to daily. This applies to both new and existing conversations.

The limits to messages does not restrict the number of messages your company can send, only the number of users who will receive them. It also does not apply to messages sent in response to a user-initiated message within 24 hours.

When you register your phone number, the company starts at level 1.

Levels

  • Level 1: Allows your company to send messages to 1000 unique customer withing a rolling 24-hour period.

  • Level 2: Allows your company to send messages to 10.000 unique customer withing a rolling 24-hour period.

  • Level 3: Allows your company to send messages to to 100.000 unique customer withing a rolling 24-hour period.

A company’s phone number will be upgraded to the next level if:

  • Its quality rating is not low,
  • The cumulative number of users to whom you send notifications to adds up to twice the current messaging limit for 7 days. Once this limit is reached, the company will be promoted to the next level. The minimum time for the upgrade is 48 hours when the company sends messages to its current limit every day.

See the tables below for examples of how a company can move to the next level.

Example 1: A company will upgrade from level 1 to level 2 when it sends messages to a total of 2000 users for 7 days.

Example 2: Here’s an explanation of messaging limits in the last 24 hours.
